Theme: Grow Stronger Together
Dear Members, Friends, and Supporters,
As we embark on the 2024-2025 school year, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the strides we have made together since our establishment in November 2021. Our theme for this year, “Grow Stronger Together“, encapsulates the unity and collaborative spirit that propel our mission to support the students, families, and community of Content Gap, Jamaica.
Welcoming New Leadership
We were honored to welcome Mrs. Tanya Lynch Davis, the new principal of Content Gap Primary School, at our October PSA meeting. Her visionary leadership and dedication to the school’s advancement have inspired us all, and we are eager to support the exciting initiatives she has planned for the students.
Celebrating Achievements
Our involvement in the June graduation of the Class of 2024 was a testament to our commitment to academic excellence. Alongside Secretariat Camecia Barrett and community stalwart Samuel Hollingsworth, I had the privilege of presenting scholarships that recognize outstanding achievements and contributions. These awards included:
- Mamzelle A. Barrett Memorial Award – Parent of the Year: $10,000 JM
- Melonie Walker-Murray Award – Grade 3 Top Student: $10,000 JM
- Astley Smythe Memorial Scholarships: Most Improved Student, Most Disciplined Student, Top Student ($30,000 JM), and Essay Scholarship ($10,000 JM)
- Myrtle M. Hall Star Award – Most Outstanding Teacher of the Year: $15,000 JM
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and look forward to supporting the Class of 2025 in their academic endeavors.
Community Engagement and Fundraising
Our success is deeply rooted in the unwavering support of our community. We extend special recognition to individuals like Lileth Watson (“Minnie”) and the “Men of Content,” whose generosity funds the Astley Smythe Scholarships, empowering our youth and inspiring future leaders.
Our fundraising events have been instrumental in sustaining our initiatives. The Family Fun Day attracted hundreds of attendees and raised over $750,000 JM, while the Fish Fry in New York, spearheaded by Carlington Powell, garnered over $300,000 JM. These events underscore the power of collective effort and the strength of our extended community.
Ongoing Initiatives
We are excited to continue our Grade 6 PEP Assistance Programme, aimed at alleviating the financial burden on families and providing students with the resources necessary for effective exam preparation. Additionally, our commitment to enhancing the learning environment is evident through special projects like the re-establishment of the school’s Computer Lab and Library, ensuring students have access to essential educational tools.

As we move forward, I extend my deepest gratitude to our dedicated board members:
- Camecia Barrett – Secretariat and Administration
- Annieca Edwards – Public Relations and Marketing
